Principles of HTML and CSS

Reflection
What were you excited or suprised to learn in HTML and CSS? Why?
After creating an HTML5 web page template and adding text to it, I was excited after configuring color with CSS. This was my first time coding and working with Cascading Style Sheets. I had previously taken CAS 111W WordPress and the styling was done for me in the form of themes and plug-ins. So, it was really exciting to learn a lot about the backend of things with with the presentation of styling using CSS on my own webpage.
What was difficult to learn?
Memorizing all the various elements, selectors and their properties and values along with the order in which they should be applied to code sufficiently without error, was difficult starting out.
What made it difficult?
With the various rules of HTML and CSS along with the pace of this course starting out for the first several weeks, in my opinion, made it challenging. As a solution, I wrote lots of things in my notebook and bookmarked W3Schools, that I used as a reference to stay afloat. I really appreciate the words of encouragement you gave that day in class about making it beyond week 4. The course really did slow down after that making it better to maintain each site and learn the concepts better.
What do you plan to do to learn it better?
Keep practicing and I will also watch YouTube videos on the subject so that I can learn more about the various shortcuts that are out there to get quicker with coding and increase memorization.
What do you plan to do with your HTML and CSS knowledge?
I would like to purchase my own domain and create my own website to advertise products and service. I'm always creating things I'd like to sell for residual income and honestly I'm tired of using eBay, Offerup and other sites. I want to create my own website and setup a checkout with a forms page to cut out all the in between to increase my profit margin.
